Pupil Premium at Ruskin Junior School
Pupil Premium is a government grant which is to be used to raise the attainment of the pupils who receive it. The money is given directly to the school who then look at how it is best to allocate the money. If parents are in receipt of certain benefits, then your child may be eligible for pupil premium. If you think your child may be eligible, contact the school office or make your application online.
At Ruskin Junior School, we are committed to providing all children access to a high-quality, inclusive curriculum. Our curriculum is underpinned by the ‘Big Idea’ which gives children the opportunity to gain a wide range of knowledge and acquire a range of skills.
Pupil Premium children are provided with the same opportunities as all the other children; participating in sports teams, members of the school council, participating in the Shakespeare in School Festival, attending residentials and many more aspects of school life.
For the 2017/2018 academic year, we have 102 pupils eligible for Pupil Premium funding and we are receiving £150,460. We have identified the approaches we are going to use this year to raise the attainment of our Pupil Premium children. All of the approaches we use to support Pupil Premium children in school are researched methods and have demonstrated positive impact on children’s attainment. To establish the support in school, we consulted the EEF Teaching and Learning toolkit. We regularly review our Pupil Premium provision, including a full review at the end of the academic year.
